In the language of the Incas "Quechua" means the Celebration of the Sun, this celebration was held when the short days came that now according to science is called the winter solstice and that does not always coincide with June 21st in the Gregorian calendar, this year begins on June 20th.

In the evolutionary process of the different civilizations that developed in the Andes (much of the South American Continent) it is seen that they gave much importance to these cycles of the winter solstice and the summer solstice, in other words, the short days and the long days, proof of this is the great evidence of archaeological sites that come from the pre-ceramic, (+/- 7,000 years) as is the case of the petroglyphs of Yonán - Cajamarthe petroglyphs of Calango - Lima.

AT OUR CORE WE ARE LOVE

At our core we are love. At our core we are our own healers and by healing ourselves we may help others in their healing. By working through our pain, crisis and failures we continue our healing journey and we learn that we are not defined by the events that have happened to us, we are not our story. As we walk consciously through the experiences that life throws our way we begin to learn that we are defined by how we have worked through the event, the pain. We walk our path to ourself, we return to ourselves when we are no longer victims in our lives and in this way we end our own suffering and in this way we may guide others out of theirs.

To stay with the victim's story hurts us, it keeps us trapped in the past, it keeps us trapped in pain and it keeps us in a state of depression. So stop doing what hurts you, stop running the story, the old thoughts and interjections, you know the ones, “I’m not enough”, “I’m not worthy”, “I’m not lovable” to mention a few. Stop with the one-liners, stop the playlist, stop hurting yourself and start to heal by remembering who you were before the trauma, the habits, thoughts, addictions, the pain, and the stories. You are love and love heals.

DISMEMBERMENT

A Shamanic practice believes in the term dismemberment, meaning when parts of ourselves break away and are lost to us. We can't hear, we can't speak, we lose our sight, and our hearts break. We find ourselves in pieces.

Then something wondrous happens as we begin to remember. Our sight returns to us and we begin to see differently, we hear actively, we speak with truth, consciousness and kindness. Our heart opens to love.

We remember who we really are, a divine and luminous being.

We return to our selves.

SAN PEDRO

We are talking about two different things when we speak of San Pedro. Western society puts emphasis on the chemicals it contains but its other aspect is the special energy of the plant.
The chemicals and their effects - the dizziness and dilation of your pupils and so forth - will eventually leave your body, but the energy will always stay with you, as will the wisdom of the plant which becomes part of your brain. The medicine wakes up your memory so you remember who you are, and this knowledge is yours for the rest of your life so you can never forget the most important truths.

SET AND SETTING

Peru-328 (1).JPG

I believe in set and setting. It makes a big difference in how one works with Ayahuasca. For nearly seventeen years I have had the honour to work with her in the Jungle. She’s safely guarded there and she is a natural treasure in Peru. That is why I arrange our retreats there. The second reason is the jungle is her home and she is wild being. She’s not cultivated. She’s wild and so I honour that the jungle is hers. Not a popular idea at this time of globalisation.
